Juniper’s mind wandered to the other day she first met Daniel. He had walked into the office building with an air of quiet confidence, his tailor accentuating his tall, lean frame, a man of many great angles. She remembered the way his tousled hair caught the light, and how his blue eyes had locked onto hers, a flicker of interest sparking between them before he looked away. Since then, she had caught glimpses of a different side to him… a wry sense of humor, a quick intellect, maybe a genuine passion for their shared work? But there was also a guardedness, a wall he seemed to keep up that she couldn’t quite breach.
