As they entered Garden Helix, Juniper felt the weight of the courtroom slowly dissipate, replaced by a sense of serenity that seemed to emanate from the park’s very core. The blue hues of the outer ring enveloped them, a soothing balm to the tension that had coiled within her during the hearing. Above, the midday sun cast precise shadows beneath the towering trees, while from below, veins of recaptured energy pulsed upward through luminescent conduits, feeding the vibrant ecosystem that surrounded them.
Daniel walked on her right, his wide frame casting long shadows across the blue-tinted path. Sophia fell into step on her left, close enough that their shoulders occasionally brushed. The three of them moved in unconscious rhythm, their footsteps echoing softly against the warmed earth.
Juniper’s mind drifted back to the courtroom, to the way Roma had commanded the room with his mere presence. Something sour twisted within her. Not fear. Something closer to revulsion. The memory of him leaving his wallet and phone casually in his pocket during the proceedings, as if he owned the place… god, the arrogance… sent a jolt of disgust through her. Even now, her skin crawled at the thought of his smug face.
As they walked deeper into the park, Juniper noticed the gradual floral shift from blue to violet, a transition that mirrored the hope rising within her. “Look how the colors blend moving inward,” she murmured, her voice soft with wonder. “Maybe we can find a way to bridge the gap in our case too.”
All three heads tilted upward simultaneously as cyclists glided past on the elevated concourses, their movements casting intricate shadows that danced across their faces. Juniper watched the patterns shift… fluid, complex, like the legal battle they faced, before dropping her gaze back to the path ahead.
