“Done,” Daniel announced, standing up abruptly. “I’ve sent you both the notes. I really have to go now.”
As he rushed out, Juniper caught a glimpse of something in his eyes – regret? Worry? She couldn’t quite place it, but it left her feeling unsettled.
Sophia turned to Juniper with a sympathetic smile. “Looks like it’s just us for the rest of the evening. Shall we order in and keep working?”
Juniper nodded, trying to shake off her disappointment. “Yeah, let’s do that.”
