She blinked, momentarily thrown by the shift back to professional matters. “Oh, let me tell you, I know exactly what we’re up against,” she replied, regaining her composure, a knowing edge creeping into her voice. “He’s overconfident. Always has been.”

“Confidence can be a weakness,” he mused. “It blinds people to their own flaws.”

“Especially his particular brand of it,” she agreed, “We can use that to our advantage.”

He nodded thoughtfully. “And Mr. Donahue? I know he’s a tough judge to persuade.”

“He is,” she confirmed. “But I think if we present a strong, united front and anticipate their arguments, we have a good chance.”
