As the morning sun climbed toward its peak, casting a warm glow that bathed the city in an orange hue. “Powered by the sky,” she thought. Juniper stood at the edge of the balcony outside her office, the cool breeze teasing the loose strands of her untamed hair. The street lights almost flickering far below, each one a tiny lighthouse in a city frozen shut. She gripped the railing, her fingers tracing the cold metal as she gazed out, lost in thought.

“I belong here.”

This morning had been productive, she mused, thinking about the important meeting that had just concluded. As an ambitious attorney, she thrived on challenges, and this case was no exception. But there was something else lingering in her mind: Daniel. His reserved demeanor intrigued her more than she’d like to admit.

“I don’t like not knowing what to expect,” she thought.
