“You go,” Juniper decided after a moment of silent negotiation through shared looks. “I’ll stay here and…” she gestured vaguely at the bullet board, “…pace some more.”
Daniel headed for the door, pausing only briefly to glance back at her, his eyes carrying promises for another time. Juniper watched him go, her heart racing as she began her practiced path before the evidence wall.
