…heads whipping toward the darkened hallway as a red glow pulsed through the glass walls. Daniel’s body curved backward at an impossible angle, peering around the corner while Juniper instinctively followed his movement, ending up draped across his chest as they both tried to gauge the situation.
“Oh no,” Juniper breathed, her words warm against his collar. “The security system…”
“Yeah,” Daniel said, a hint of amusement in his voice despite their predicament. His hand steadied her waist as they untangled themselves. “I think our heat signatures are being read as one person now. The CNN is probably registering that someone disappeared in the building.”
“Quick - go to the other corner!” She fought back inappropriate laughter, watching him practically glide across the room. “Look like you’re working on the bullet board!”
