Daniel stopped fiddling with the papers and turned to face her fully. His eyes met hers, a mix of surprise and a hint of vulnerability shining through. “You know,” he began slowly, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as a memory surfaced, “my dad used to talk about objects in motion.” His voice softened, almost as if he were speaking more to himself than to her. “How they tend to stay that way unless something forces them to change.”

Juniper’s heart warmed at the shared intimacy. She could see the depth in his eyes, the unspoken stories behind them. “I love that,” she whispered, a genuine smile spreading across her face. “It says so much about… everything…”

He held her gaze, the space between them filling with a newfound understanding. The weight of unspoken histories seemed lighter somehow, bound by the threads of their shared confidences.

There was a rawness in his tone that made Juniper’s almost eyes drip from her - not just from what he said, but from what he didn’t say. The way his jaw tensed slightly told her there were depths to that simple physics lesson she had yet to understand.

…Yeah, now my heart’s doing that thing again. Totally unauthorized.
