Juniper watched him, a smile spreading across her face as her head moved slowly from side to side. “This kid.”
“Oh!” Lillian brightened, seizing the moment. “What about that book you mentioned last night? The one about the traveler?”
“Oh yeah, so when she makes it to Earth she loses her powers but-”
“Don’t spoil it!” Lillian interrupted, raising her hands in protest. “Just send it to me.”
The morning light had shifted, taking on that particular quality that meant time was running short. Reality began creeping back in around the edges of their bubble - work waiting, holidays approaching, futures uncertain.
“I should head back soon,” Juniper said quietly. “Before the rush hits.”
