Is it wrong to want more than what you already have? Juniper’s eyes fluttered open to the amber glow of dawn seeping through the sheer curtains. The muted hues of early morning painted her bedroom in gentle pastels, a quiet prelude to the day ahead.

She lay still for a moment, cocooned in the warmth of her plush duvet, listening to the distant warm vibration of the city waking up. The faint sounds of cars humming and what she thought was muffled footsteps on the sidewalk far below blended into a distant melody.

I’ll never tire of the view of those hills and forests cradling the city, and the way the river paints the sky at sunrise… it’s a daily masterpiece, better than what I literally tried… to be true, can’t take my eyes off of you.

Turning her head toward the window, she could just make out the silhouette of the hills beyond the skyline, the river reflecting the first rays of sunlight like a ribbon of liquid gold. A sigh escaped her lips. The world out there seemed so vast, so full of possibility, yet here she was, confined within the already familiar walls of her apartment.

Is it wrong to want more than what you already have?

The question lingered, a whisper in the quiet of her mind. She stretched lazily, her fingers grazing the soft fabric of the sheets. Part of her wanted to sink back into sleep, to escape into the vivid dreams that often whisked her away to places filled with passionate love and grand adventures. But reality tugged at her, insistent.
