The shape of his body shifted slightly as he reviewed the files spread before him, the movement drawing her eyes to the way his shoulders filled out his dress shirt, now slightly damp and clinging in places it hadn’t before. She attempted discern his volume, with the offset of his balance’s by how much it may have been protruding… the subtle lean creating angles that hadn’t been there moments ago. Juniper found herself cursed by how her attention caught on every subtle flex and adjustment.
Maybe if I slip and fall he’ll look at me again.

She was still damp from their walk, the thin fabric of her button-up clinging to her skin like a subconcious thought. She hadn’t worn much underneath today - an oversight that now felt like both shield and torture, every movement a reminder of how exposed she felt under his gaze.
Daniel had weathered the rain better, his jacket having absorbed most of it. But his hair… god, his hair was slicked back from the water, falling to one side in a way that transformed his usual polished appearance into something rawer, more dangerous. A droplet traced its way down his neck, disappearing beneath his collar, and Juniper found herself following its path before catching herself.
Get it together, she thought, but her pulse had already betrayed her, hammering against the wet fabric pressed to her skin.
“I’d offer you something dry to change into,” Juniper said, fighting nervousness with humor, thankful that her voice didn’t betray how the sight of him in her living room was affecting her. “But unless you want to rock my yoga pants, we might have a problem.”
The surprised laugh that escaped him transformed his whole face, softening the sharp angles of his jaw, crinkling the corners of his eyes in a way that made her chest expand. She found herself cataloging the sound, deep and genuine, filing it away with other discoveries about Daniel that the storm had gifted her.
Was he gawking? The thought flashed through her mind as she caught him studying her apartment with undisguised curiosity, his eyes lingering on the small details that made up her life outside the office.
