“Is his mind linked? Am I on that TV show movie where I’m the only character?”

As they approached the city limits, it was apparent Juniper was fighting something unknown, a battle within, it seemed. “Maybe it’s better he can’t hear that,” she thought, her grip on the steering loosening slightly as the first droplets of rain began to fall, splattering against the windshield like tears from heaven cast out for treason.

As they drew closer to their destination, the energy between them shifted, the tension morphing into something else entirely. The air crackled with unspoken words, with the weight of everything left unsaid, and Juniper found herself holding her breath, waiting for the inevitable collision between them.

But it never came. Instead, they arrived at their destination, the car sliding smoothly into a parking spot, the engine humming silent with a final ring. For a moment, neither of them moved, the stillness broken only by the patter of small raindrops on the roof and the gentle undertone of distant traffic.
