Juniper caught Emma smiling at Daniel. In mid-smile, Emma looked over at Juniper, not breaking face at all, but just kind of lifting one eye in a knowing, almost conspiratorial manner. Juniper’s eyes darted around, a silent subject changer, her heart racing at the unspoken implication.

“My goodness,” Emma thought, shaking her head slightly, a mixture of amusement and concern playing across her features.

As the hours ticked by, Emma realized that nothing was getting done. The two experts the paralegals were relying on were of no help, their minds clearly preoccupied with matters not of the law.

She took a quick huddle with Marcus. “Yeah, I don’t think we’re gonna get done today, lol,” she whispered, her voice tinged with frustration. Marcus looked at her with a smirk of agreement. “Let’s go get coffee and see if these two can get it together once we get back, haha.”

Marcus chuckled softly. “Thank God, I thought I was the only one watching this show. Like two galaxies colliding, like it’s happening, but is it?” Emma looked at him like that was corny, but she couldn’t help but smile at the apt comparison.
