“So, how has Dad been with the new job?” Juniper asked, her fingers absentmindedly tracing the edge of the worn coffee table, its nicks and scratches telling stories of their own.
“Given he’s been planning on moving to this job for the last eight years, I’m sure he’s doing fine,” Evelyn mused, smoothing out an invisible wrinkle on her skirt.
“He’s basically moved into the same field,” Juniper pointed out. “I don’t understand why he would use his benefit for something like that after all that time.”
“I don’t know either, hun,” Evelyn said softly, her voice tinged with a mix of resignation and understanding. “It’s all he’s known, I guess. I think the main thing he found in life that gives him pride is his work. He wanted to still live here near everything unlike most who seek benefit.”
“Objects in motion tend to stay in motion’ is what he told me when he moved his benefit… Always overthinking everything,” Juniper remarked, a hint of a smile playing on her lips, her father’s voice echoing in her mind.
